EP 40 – Big Girl Panties

This week’s episode we get personal. (Well, when don’t we get personal around here?)

Last week, I was cold busted telling my friend “I feel blue.” Lucky for me I have good friends who will not take that type of vague language as the real answer. They dig in and they press me for more. Tell me about that. Tell me more. What does that mean?

Essentially, my friend  was asking me to put on my girl panties and use my big girl words to tell her specifically what was going on with me and what I was feeling. Why is this so important? When we use vague language like ” I don’t know what’s wrong” or “I feel blue” or “I don’t know.” We are doing ourselves a disservice. We are making it very difficult, if not impossible, to get the help that we need from others. It is hard for someone to help you with “I don’t know.” You can’t go to a doctor with “I don’t know what’s wrong.”

When we are able to name what is going on for us, then we can ask for big girl help to solve our big girl problems. Don’t let “I don’t know” be a good enough reason not to take care of yourself. Don’t let it be a good enough reason to choose not to get dressed in the morning. Start challenging yourself. You have too much brains and beauty to let that be good enough. You have too many words at your disposal to allow vague words to pass by your notice. When we name it, we can change it.

Show Notes:

On this week’s episode of the New Glam Gal Podcast, we talk about:
1. Ouchies and Booboos
2. The Puerto Rican platitude “sana sana”
3. How vague language does you a disservice
4. How to move past vague language and putting your big girl pants
5. Why it is important to be specific with how you are feeling and what you need so you can ask for specific help

Speaking of asking for specific help. Did you know I am here to help you? Yes, you. You can get 1 on 1 help from me. You can tell me all about what is going on for you. If you really have no clue, then I know just the questions to ask to get you the right kind of help. Sign up for a free consultation call.
